This mat is not as thick as I hoped it would be, though it is definitely thicker than others on the market. Apparently I need more "cushion" when I park myself down on the floor to exercise than other people do. Also, the elastic transport loops, which hold the mat in place when it is rolled up, ripped on one side after the 2nd time using the product, though that did not compromise the quality of the mat itself.

UPDATE: The company contacted me after seeing my review and offered to send me another mat to try, at their expense, inclusive of shipping. They also sent me a new elastic transport loop. Though the mat they sent was less cushiony than the original HemingWeigh Extra Thick Foam Exercise Mat I ordered, when I put it underneath the HemingWeigh Extra Thick Foam Mat, I achieved the level of softness I needed. The new elastic transport loop is holding up well. The first one must have been a "dud." It happens.

I'd like to say that the company representative couldn't have been nicer or more sincere. If other companies demonstrated this level of service and committment toward their customers, we would have many more happy consumers out there. I would CERTAINLY be enthusiastic about buying ANYTHING this company sells in the future.

The kids love this mat and stole it for a day or two before I could steal it back and try it out. I used it for mat work (lots of legs lifts) and loved that my knees felt great. It is great for yoga too. I thought it might actually be too thick for yoga and make balancing hard, but it is not too soft so I didn't have trouble balancing in warrior pose or any other balancing pose. Definitely recommend just for the gentleness on your knees.

The mat immediately rolls out completely flat, and it does not tend to curl back into a tube at either end once it is laid out. Yet it does not tend to unroll once it is rolled up. The strap is easy to remove and install, plus it is a comfortable yet strong and well constructed. This 72" mat makes more sense for a 6' tall person than mats which are shorter. The material with which the mat is made makes a very effective cushion for knees, elbows and feet when doing push ups and planks. This mat, though it is 1/2 inch thick, folds very easily and stays that way. No problem stowing with other mats at all. I liked the look and the soft feel of the mat. Texture is also very smooth and comforting. Logo is cool. What I liked the most is the cushioning effect of the mat - it is easy on your knees. When you are doing various yoga poses like downward dog, there is no slip, you feel a firm grip on the mat which is very nice. All in all, an excellent product.

I've taught Pilates and yoga for 10+ years. The most frequent student complaint I hear: joint discomfort when lying or kneeling on the mat. With that being said, I'm so thrilled to finally have a remedy to offer my students who typically experience pain during their practice! So far, all the students I've suggested it to, love it! This mat is just outstanding for my anaerobic exercises. I do crunches and push ups primarily on this mat. It resembles thick memory foam more than it does the old traditionally slippery and thin mats I remember from my past. This really takes the impact off my joints and back when I use it. It rolls up easily for storage. It molds to my body so it enables much better form than if I was on the floor or a regular exercise mat. This would no doubt be excellent for yoga as it would hold you in place and make it easier to get in the poses.

I am a 6' 3 athlete and this yoga mat fits me perfectly. I was using it outside on a hot day and found that the mat did not make me sweat at all.   I am new to Yoga and decided to get my own mat instead of using the mats at the gym. I have to say I took a chance on this one but it is GREAT! It grips so much better than the ones at the gym, it is soft on my feet and has grips on the surface of the mat. I like that it comes with a carrying handle that wraps around the mat making it very easy to carry.
  I don't do "hot yoga," but I do a good bit of sweating and even when wet, the mat holds strong and grips pretty well. All and all I think this was a solid purchase and I would recommend this mat.

  This is the second yoga mat that I've owned. Very good quality mat for the price. I do advanced yoga for an hour 1-2 times per day so this gets a LOT of use. Also, I weigh about 210, so that's a factor in wear. So far, it is holding up pretty well, except for a few places where small amounts of material are tearing. This is troubling and of course, not a good sign,but I attribute it to the amount of use it gets daily. Honestly, the next jump up in quality nearly doubles the price and I wasn't ready to spend that, so this is a compromise and a very good one. I expect that if it lasts a year, I'll be doing good. For the "average person", or newbie to yoga should expect to get a good 3-5 years from this. I will update this later if I notice more rapid wear, but I think this should last.
  GOOD
  1. Mat is soft, yet provides adequate support.
  2. Comes with its own carry strap, which can double as a strap for your feet when doing twists while on the floor.
  3. The logo label is tastefully done and does not distract
  4. The surface cleans easily and doesn't seem to have a static charge to attract hair, fibers etc. although it may occur from time to time
  5. The edges don't curl up, during Warrior I, like my first mat did
  6. Different pattern on the top and bottom, so if you are picky, like me, you can always have one side be the "top" and one side be the "bottom"
  BAD
  1. A few, very small areas, perhaps just 1/4" or so, have torn in the primary wear area "traffic lane". Of course,this is with bare feet and something I did not expect. But I do use this mat a lot and feel that it will not be a problem. I reserve the right to update this at a later time if it starts to really crap out on me.

  The best mat I've ever purchased is this guy right here. I made the mistake of wasting 5 bucks on a cheap one at Walmart but now I've redeemed myself and found a quality mat.
  
  The memory foam like material is thick, sturdy, and very comfortable. My wife told me I should order one to take as my backpacking mat. The size is generous enough for me at 6'4" and 240 pounds. (Big boys like yoga too!)
  
  The strap it comes with is nice to have around and makes sure the mat stays rolled up which helps to keep our tiny apartment organized.
  
  When it's actually being used the mat doesn't shift around which has been a problem for me with some other mats. Overall I am very well pleased with this mat and I hope to keep it around for a while longer!
